A huge selection of vibrant papier-mâché carnival masks are available, as well as sterling silver jewelry decorated with local Indian hieroglyphs. A wide selection of hand-carved santos are very popular with tourists and cost between $40 and $200. Be sure to save suitcase room for a packet of Puerto Rican coffee or a bottle of hot sauce or rum ­ these goodies are also for sale.
