  • Gatun Locks (3 miles)
    The biggest locks in the Panama Canal, the Gatun Locks on the Atlantic side of the canal do the work of two sets of locks on the Pacific side. Observation platforms provide views of the locks, the Caribbean entrance to the canal and Lago Gatún Panama Canal Authority Guide Service at Miraflores.
  • Black Christ Church and Museum (25 miles)
    This museum is dedicated to Portobelo's patron saint, known as the Black Christ, who is honored annually in an Oct 21 festival. A plethora of robes and religious paraphernalia are on display.
  • Portobelo City (25 miles)
    This bayside town is home to the ruins of five Spanish forts and a Spanish Colonial treasure house, the Aduana Real, which was restored by the Spanish Government in 1998. It is also now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Isla Grande (30 miles)
    Known for its lush, verdant landscape, crystal-clear waters and laid-back Caribbean atmosphere, this popular vacation spot offers snorkeling, diving, surfing, jet-skiing, boat rides and banana boats.
