Held the week of Thanksgiving, the Festival of Trees helps usher in the holiday spirit in great style. This 10-day event is widely regarded as one of the Quad Cities' top annual festivals and, in fact, is one of the largest such events in the United States. Most of the festivities take place in downtown Davenport's River Center and the Adler Theater. Festival highlights include a unique gingerbread village, arts and crafts, Santas from around the world, a petting zoo, Davenport's Holiday Parade and a special holiday performance by the Quad City Symphony.

One of the area's more unique annual events, this organized Father's Day bike tour covers approximately 11 to 70 miles of territory (your choice!). Those who opt for the 11-mile tour get to cross the river on the famous Celebration Belle and then again via the Centennial Bridge. The 64-mile trek includes a run north, from Moline all the way to Cordova. Cyclists may also explore various spur trails on Credit Island, Campbell's Island and Sylvan Island.

Ya Maka My Weekend is a great time for the entire family, featuring an open-air market, great Jamaican food, live reggae and even a sand-court volleyball tournament. This summertime festival, held in early August, honors Bix Beiderbeck, the great jazz musician who was born in Davenport. The Bix Beiderbeck Memorial Jazz Festival has been entertaining music fans since 1972, and features some of today's hottest jazz acts, as well as several smoking up-and-comers like the Bix Beiderbeck Youth Jazz Band. Other festival highlights includes a trolley tour to Bix historical sites, a Saturday morning grave site tribute, and the Sunday \\\"Jazz Brunch.\\\" The festival's traditional grand finale, The \\\"Bix Afterglow,\\\" also takes place on Sunday and features top bands bringing the Bix to a close in true style.

Most people are surprised to learn that the Quad Cities hosts an annual PGA event. The John Deere Classic, which recently moved to Deere Run, takes place the last week in July and has been a part of the tournament circuit for more than 30 years. The new course, constructed on grounds once owned by the Deere family, features idyllic rolling fairways surrounded by beautiful woodlands. Since moving to Deere Run, a semi-private course, tournament officials have seen marked growth in attendance.

There are not many festivals along the Mississippi quite like this August Saturday extravaganza that features teams from LeClaire and Port Byron, Illinois, engaged in a tug-of-war over the mighty river. Indeed, thousands of people flock to LeClaire each year to witness the contest (which uses a 2,400 foot, 680 pound rope), and celebrate the winners. Up for grabs is an alabaster trophy depicting an eagle in flight. If you don't participate in the tug-of-war, the festival offers fun options such as a 5K run and walk, rides, a basketball tournament, live entertainment and, of course, great food.
