About Gold Coast
Gold Coast City is outlined by 70 kilometers of stunning coastline from South Stradbroke Island to Rainbow Bay. Surfers Paradise is its center, and the seven kilometer stretch of coast in and around the hub is famous for its high-rise skyline, now spear-headed by the colossal Q1 Tower. It's a part of Australia extremely popular for holiday makers, both domestic and international - the Japanese famously adore the area and you'll find a surprisingly large Asian presence fusing with Aussie beach-loving traditions. Reliably balmy weather coupled with sensational natural and man-made attractions keep the visitors flooding in. The beaches have always been the main draw, though a close second is the largest concentration of themed attractions in the southern hemisphere, with Sea World, Dream World, Warner Brothers Movie World and Wet'n'Wild Water World amongst them. It's a food lovers dream - especially great for seafood - and there are many wineries in the region to explore. A glut of designer stores, funky markets and duty-free options keep the keenest shopper busy. Not too far inland is the stunning Gold Coast hinterland with its rainforests and mountains. At once dazzling and spectacular, commercial and natural.
