In Puerto Rico, the Caribbean is at its best. Sun and sea. A year-round climate that makes Puerto Rico a vacationer's paradise. An enchanting tradition and an assortment of fascinating cultures. The three hundred miles of coastline are fringed with silken sand and unspoiled beaches.

Within, the countryside is idyllic. Old Spanish forts that evoke ages of the past. Rivers flowing down green-clad mountains to cool and refreshing orchid-filled rain forests.

Around the island, the Atlantic is filled with record-breaking blue marlin to challenge even the most experienced fisherman. Our coral reefs off the western and northern shores are a colorful fish-filled kaleidoscope for the adventuresome scuba divers and snorkelers. Puerto Rico's year-round climate offers forever green fairways and championship golf courses which will test the skill of both professional and amateur golfers.

Visit Old San Juan, with El Morro Castle. It's a wonderfully picturesque Spanish city of narrow streets, nestled beside one of the most protected harbors in the world. In the mountains, enjoy horseback riding and exploring the trails through the rain forests, exotic palms and trees, brilliantly colored tropical flowers and mountain waterfalls.

About San Juan

San Juan is a city of dichotomies Spanish and English, Puerto Rican and American, Ancient and Modern. To understand the city like a Sanjuanero, one must understand the symbiotic relationship between each of the city's districts. Old San Juan is the historic heart of the city. Spanish colonial homes dating back hundreds of years border plazas with statues honoring Christopher Columbus, among others. In sharp contrast, the city's Condado, Ocean Park and Isla Verde sections of town are 100% modern glitz and glamour. Comparable to Miami Beach and Las Vegas, these regions are home to the high-rise hotels, beaches and casinos prized by tourists from around the world. The Hato Rey area is as contemporary as any large city's financial district. Referred to as the "Wall Street of the West Indies" the "Golden Mile" is home to many world banks and much of the money in the Caribbean filters through here at one time or another. Further to the south is Rio Piedras where the University of Puerto Rico makes its home. With over 25,000 students, this vibrant center for learning energizes the city. Santurce and Miramar are two of San Juan's residential districts. Upscale Miramar sits next to bohemian Santurce, where many experimental art galleries and funky cafes are located. With so much to offer visitors, it is no surprise that this booming city is an internationally popular destination for both business and leisure.

Did you know?

Puerto Rico is a mere 110 miles long and only 35 miles wide. The temperate climate rarely reaches above ninety degrees and rarely dips below sixty. Do bring a raincoat especially if you are planning a visit to the northern coast or the mountains.
