About Orlando

Always a work in-progress, "The City Beautiful" offers lush landscaping and pristine natural areas, including plenty of parks, lakes, fountains and recreational waterways. With a rich heritage that includes quaint historic neighborhoods, numerous museums and family-friendly cultural galas, there is certainly a lot more here than theme parks, golf courses and shopping centers. This is a city that rarely sleeps or even stops to take a breath, as the bustling and eclectic nightlife scenes in downtown Orlando and Downtown Disney® area no doubt attest. Even more well known is that the greater Orlando area holds the mantle of being one of the world's premier tourist destinations, from swan boats and Clydesdales to oranges and alligators. Attractions, thrill rides, restaurants, comedy clubs, theme parks: whether you're talking about Universal Studios, the Holy Land Experience, SeaWorld Adventure Park or any of the four Theme Parks of the Walt Disney World® Resort, there's always something magical in the air.

Did you know?

One of Sea World's most well-known performers is more than meets the eye. Shamu, a wildly popular orca whale with a loyal fan base and endearing act, is actually a stage name given to any of the park's adult killer whale performers. The park's first successful captive killer whale birth occurred on September 26, 1985, and Baby Shamu became an instant celebrity. Since then more than a dozen killer whales have been born at Sea World and carried on the Shamu name. Baby orca whales are approximately 8.5 feet long and weigh in between 300 and 400 pounds. Now that's one big baby!
