The trendy Casco Viejo area is conveniently located minutes from Radisson Hotel Panama Canal. Home to outdoor cafés, restaurants and bars, Casco Viejo is a picturesque place to sample a variety of foods and drinks in an atmosphere of culture, music and entertainment.
This old colonial city, declared a Historical Monument by UNESCO in 1997, is a must-see for history buffs. Built in a grid facing the four cardinal points, Casco Viejo is located on a small peninsula surrounded by a mantle of rocky reefs within the current Corregimiento of San Felipe.
On the way to Plaza de Francia, the southernmost tip of Casco Viejo, visitors can find a large number of souvenir shops with a wide selection of handcrafts such as ornate devil masks, molas and the famous Panama hat. In Las Bovedas you can visit the Paseo Esteban Huertas, which borders the sea and offers magnificent views of Cerro Ancon, the Bridge of the Americas, Biomuseo, the Amador Causeway and the modern city in the Bay of Panama.
