This hotel is right downtown Appleton and is within walking distance of great shopping, restaurants, and bars. It has a basement pool, whirlpool & fitness area which is open from 5am to 12am and no kids after 10pm. After a lot of walking/shopping on Friday, it was great to sit in the whirlpool after 10 and simply read a book. Only one of our room cards worked, so we got another one, and the 2nd one still didn't work. It was the only real problem we had. We had room 4422 and it was clean and quiet. It had a refrig & microwave. It was nice to store our bottled water in the refrig. We didn't use the microwave. We had plenty of USB and other plugins for our phones, tablets, etc. The internet was fast and easy to connect. The big screen flat panel TV worked as expected. I found the bed very comfortable and even checked the brand so I can see about getting one for home. Our view was a small park and a new convention center under construction. The only thing I didn't like about the room was the very low, small, round, outdated toilet. We parked in the parking garage across the street from the hotel and walked almost everywhere. We went to the local Comedy Club on Friday night, then went to Pinot's Palette Saturday night to paint & sip. Saturday we walked to their indoor farmer's market, and in the afternoon we went to a spa for massage, facials and pedicures. The performing arts center was within 2 blocks but me and my 43 year old daughter weren't interested in seeing the Little Mermaid. The hotel provided 2 drink tickets and 2 breakfast tickets for each night, but we didn't use the drink tickets. The hotel breakfast buffet on Saturday was good with the usual samplings of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, country gravy and biscuits, pastries. I would have liked oatmeal as an offering, though. The coffee in this area isn't as good as home but I'm pretty sure its the water here. You can also order off a menu. Sunday, we had meat lovers omelets which came with hash browns & toast. It was alot of food but it was really good. We should have gotten one and split it. By the way, don't try to get a room in this area when the Packer's are playing in Green Bay. The rates shoot up and you would be very, very lucky if you find a room anywhere in this area.
