Baltimore Visitors Guide

Baltimore—the birthplace of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Babe Ruth and tiramisu—carries a rich history worth exploring. In the 1700s, Baltimore gained economic traction as a prosperous port city. The coastal setting that still entices tourists today is just one of Charm City’s many allures. Whether you’re strolling the boardwalks of Fells Point, browsing the colorful homes of Charles Village, or wandering the trails at Druid Hill Park, Baltimore Radisson Hotel guests will discover a unique story in each of Baltimore’s distinct neighborhoods.

Reasons to Visit Baltimore

  • Inner Harbor: Still a working port, Inner Harbor stimulated Baltimore’s early economic success. Today, Baltimore Radisson Hotel guests can take sailboat tours, ride water taxis and explore the neighborhood’s seafood restaurants and coastal shops.

  • National Aquarium: Home to more than 20,000 sea creatures, the National Aquarium is one of the top aquariums in the United States. Your up-close encounter with marine life, from the remarkable sharks to the fascinating jellyfish, is sure to be both educational and astounding.

  • Crab: There’s a good reason Baltimoreans eat so much crab, and when you sample this tasty crustacean, you’ll find out exactly why. Bo Brooks is arguably the best crab house in Baltimore, but when it comes to crab cakes, Faidley Seafood brings stiff competition.

  • American Visionary Art Museum: Voted by Congress as America’s official museum of self-taught art, this institution draws more than 100,000 visitors every year. Rebecca Alban Hoffberger opened the museum in 1995 to create a home for independent art.

  • Oriole Park at Camden Yards:Watch a game at Oriole Park with fans who take baseball seriously. Even if you’re visiting out of season, there are plenty of baseball-related activities in the neighborhood, including tours that take you into the dugout and restaurants that offer your favorite ballgame foods and drinks.

  • Fort McHenry: To fully appreciate modern-day Baltimore, take a walk through history at Fort McHenry and recall the dramatic events that inspired Francis Scott Key to write "The Star-Spangled Banner"

When to Visit Baltimore

Spring and summer are Baltimore’s festival seasons. HonFest in Hampden is one of the city’s most well-known festivals, where festivalgoers don beehive hairdos and leopard-print pants to assume the look of true Baltimorean “hons”—that’s Baltimorese for “honeys.” In May, Baltimore Radisson Hotel guests can join in the horse racing festivities during the Preakness Celebration, and browse spectacular artwork at Artscape in July.

In the fall and winter months, the Baltimore Ravens steal the show, and football fans pour into M&T Bank Stadium to cheer on their home team.

Baltimore Travel Tip

Located between Oriole Park and the B&O Warehouse, Eutaw Street is a pedestrian-only road that offers a view of the Camden Yards field as well as unique dining and shopping spots. Make sure you have your ticket with you on game day so you can access the sections of the street that overlook the field.
